Furs are the cosmetic half of Cat Battles: coat patterns you roll out of crates. They look good, they change nothing about a fight, and the drop rates everyone quotes are invented. Here is what is actually known.
![]()
The official Cat Battles icon — every fur is a reskin of the same cat, which is exactly why furs are cosmetic only.
What a fur is
A fur is the coat your cat wears into the ring. It is applied in the lobby and persists across rounds. Nothing about it touches your weight, your push strength or your ability — a cat in a plain coat and a cat in Galaxy fur take the same shove off the platform.
That matters when you are deciding where free Coins go. If you only have one batch, an ability will change your rounds and a fur will not. The ability guide covers the mechanical side.
The rolls people chase
Three fur names come up again and again in trading and in the Discord: Rainbow, Crystal and Galaxy. They are treated as the rare tier, which is why they show up in screenshots more than in lobbies.
What is not public: the odds. Cute Malt Games has never published a drop table, and the game does not show one. Guides that state “0.5% for Galaxy” or similar are working backwards from a handful of openings. Treat any exact number, including a nice round one, as noise.
What a crate gives you
| From crates | Not from crates |
|---|---|
| Furs | Abilities |
| Sumo gear | Coins |
| Emotes | Stat boosts |
| Visual effects | Extra ability slots |
Crates are the cosmetic pipeline only. If you want a mechanical edge, you are buying abilities directly, not opening boxes and hoping.
Getting Coins without grinding
Crates are bought with Coins, and Coins come from two places: playing rounds, or codes. Five codes are live right now worth 1,150 Coins, which is the fastest route to a first crate or a first ability. Rounds pay out slowly by comparison, so most players open with codes and then decide what to spend on.
A sensible spending order
-
Redeem all five codes first. It costs nothing and takes under a minute.
-
Buy the ability that fixes how you usually get knocked out. This is the only purchase that changes results.
-
Then start rolling crates. By that point you have a working build and cosmetics are pure preference.
The reverse order — crates first — is why a lot of new players feel stuck after an hour: they have a nice coat and no answer to being grabbed at the edge.
Questions
Do furs give any advantage?
No. They are cosmetic only. Abilities are the part of the shop that affects gameplay.
What are the rarest furs?
Rainbow, Crystal and Galaxy are the ones players chase. No official drop rates exist.
Can a crate give an ability?
No. Crates roll furs, sumo gear, emotes and effects. Abilities are bought separately.
How many crates can 1,150 Coins buy?
It depends on the current shop price, which changes. Check the price in-game before you spend — we do not publish a number that will be wrong next week.
